The problem to solve

The Isle of Man Government needed a clear way for residents and visitors to use information from the island's digital road signs. The public experience also needed ongoing technical support as devices, operating systems and user expectations changed.

How Software Heads contributed

Software Heads develops and supports the whole service: the integration that reads the physical roadside signs, the platform behind it and the public iOS and Android applications. The work includes traffic mapping, subscribed notifications and a substantial interface update.

• Direct, read-only reading of the island's roadside matrix signs.
• Live sign content, sign status and traffic mapping in one public view.
• Notifications for changes to signs selected by the user.
• A refreshed interface, including dark mode support.
• Ongoing maintenance, platform updates and technical support.

Outcome

What the work made possible

The delivered service gives residents and visitors one place to inspect current road information, view traffic conditions and subscribe to relevant updates. Continuing support has carried the service through successive device, operating system and platform generations.
